The Race For Life Charity Run - 2018
We arrived at Hudson’s Field, Salisbury in our fuchsia pink T-shirts on a chilly, misty and slightly shivery morning, 10th June, to raise money for Cancer Research UK by running, jogging or walking in their annual Race for Life. The team from Berwick St James consisted of Nicky Street, Marilyn Wood, Linda and Orla Doggrell, Alice Ridley, Shelley Cox and Claire Whatley. It’s fair to say all generations were represented! Some of us ran the 5K, some the 10K and once the claxon sounded for the start we all lost each other in the crowds as we set off. Both marshals and locals were extremely supportive on the route, with villagers cheering us on at their gates and even a brass band playing especially for the occasion. The course became increasingly hilly and as we progressed, the chilly, misty weather gave way quite suddenly to a hot and humid day. However, despite the heat and the hills, we all finished pleased with our respective times and grateful to all the people in Berwick and beyond who have so kindly sponsored us.
Sponsorship is still welcome… If you wish to make a donation, please go to fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org and when you get to “Find a Giving Page” fill in “Berwick Farm Shop”.
